The Cink from Creative Industries and it's system of buckets and filters provides clean water for rinsing and cleaning of pottery studio equipment. Specifically The Cink from Creative Industries is a self contained clay capturing and water recycling system for the classroom or production studio where running water may be limited, or plumbing system may not be able to handle or accept waste clay. The design of The Cink is very simplistic. There are two filters and a water holding tank combined with a simple pump to draw water and force it to the nozzle unit at the top of the stainless steel sink. The entire system is a a self contained unit on casters that can be moved to any point in the classroom or studio with standard 110v electrical service. The pump motor is CE approved, and all hardware including the pump is covered by a standard 90 day warranty. Operationally the The Cink is quite simple. The top of The Cink has a spray nozzle for cleaning of pottery studio equipment. Water and clay debris passes into the Bucket #1 which is directly below the trap of the standard stainless steel sink unit. The heaviest clay debris will quickly settle into Bucket #1. The overflow of Bucket #1 allows water and possibly some light weight clay debris to pass to Bucket #2. In Bucket #2 there is a fine bag filter at the inlet to trap the clay particles as they enter Bucket #2. Bucket #2 serves as the water reservoir from which water is drawn from and pumped through a 1 micron filter that captures extremely fine clay particles. The cleaned water is then returned to the spray nozzle at the top as clean running water. The Cink requires access to 110v for powering the pump. The Cink is very easy to maintain. The fine bag filter from Bucket #2 can be cleaned right within The Cink system itself, while Bucket #1 can be removed for proper disposal or recycling of the captured waste clay. The bag filter and the 1 micron filter should be replaced whenever water flow is reduced, approximately every 3-6 months depending upon usage. How fine is 1 micron filtration? Commercial water systems that connect to home faucets typically use either 0.5 or 1.0 micron filtration which can trap just about any debris in the water. But some clay particles are smaller than 1 micron so repeated cycles of dirty water will result in increased turbidity (cloudiness) of the water, therefore it is recommended to refresh the water in the system each week to keep it fresh and clear. To refresh the water just drain the water out of the system through the spray nozzle into an empty bucket and then replace the dirty water with clean water.
Important notes: Because The Cink is a self contained unit, The Cink connects to neither the potable water supply in your building or the sewer system. Thus no special permits are required to use The Cink, nor are there any special plumbing requirements for usage of the product. The Cink is perfect for studios or classrooms connected to a septic system as no waste clay will be allowed to enter the septic system. In addition The Cink is ideal for older schools where a proper clay trap system may be lacking or overloaded. Even though The Cink is equipped with a 1 micron filtration system, The Cink has neither tested for, nor intended for the system to meet potable water standards. The Cink is built to order by Creative Industry in batches. Allow 2-4 weeks for manufacturing, plus up to 1 week shipping time. Shipment is via truck, shipping weight 160 lbs.
