Duncan Designer Glazes

     Duncan Designer Glazes are reactive glazes, also known as Art Glazes, with high gloss appearance which is perfect for single use as a stand alone glaze or in decorative combinations with other glazes.  Reactive glazes react to the thickness of the glaze application, the shape and detail of the piece, as well as small changes in the firing temperature to produce interesting effects and changes to the colors.  All of Duncan's Designer Glazes are nontoxic and dinnerware safe with the exception of the DG 203 which is nontoxic but is not dinnerware safe because the glaze contains cupric oxide (copper).  The Designer Glazes are available in 14 fashionable colors that will self-antique if the object to be glazed is heavily detailed.

    Note: The Designer Glazes have been reformulated for 2010.  In the past, due to a raw material component in the formulation which intensified the "break" in color, the Duncan Designer Glazes were quite thixotropic which often resulted in the glaze achieving a gel-like consistency and reducing the shelf life of the liquid product.  As previously stated, the Duncan Designer Glazes were reformulated for 2010 specifically to improve the shelf life of the product.

   The Color Tiles for the Duncan Designer Glazes were produced by Duncan.

    Dogwood Ceramic Supply has full sized decorative tile and vases decorated with the Duncan Designer Glazes in our showroom for customer convenience as digital photographs often produce distorted colors due to ambient light conditions or tweaking the photo for best presentation.  The digital photograph of the Designer DG 203 Carbon Chiffon is a good example of this issue.  Dogwood Ceramic Supply photographed the tile in diffused sunlight against a brilliant white background to establish the proper white balance (color temperature).  The digital photograph has been unaltered to show true color and the mirror like finish.  Obviously our photograph does not match the Duncan provided photograph.  If the potential color results are important to you, please test reactive glazes, such as the Duncan Designer Glazes, prior to use on critical projects.

    Because of past thixotropic issues with the Duncan Designer Glazes, Dogwood Ceramic Supply has chosen to maintain minimal inventory levels of the Designer Glazes in our warehouse.  Customers needing large quantities of the Duncan Designer Glazes should plan ahead appropriately.  Please note, because of the limited quantities of in the Dogwood inventory, customers needing bulk quantities of the Designer Glazes will always receive the freshest glaze possible which should minimize thixotropic issues with their own inventory of the glazes.
