Duncan Courtyard Art Glazes

Duncan Courtyard Glazes are reactive glazes, also known as Art Glazes.  Reactive glazes react to the thickness of the glaze application, the shape and detail of the piece, as well as small changes in the firing temperature to product interesting effects and changes to the colors.  Duncan Courtyard Glazes have a matte appearance with just a hint of a sheen.  Duncan Courtyard Glazes are nontoxic and all are dinnerware safe, with the exception of CY 110 which is nontoxic but is not dinnerware safe.  Available in 16 earth-tone colors that will self-antique if the object to be glazed is heavily detailed.
All Duncan Courtyard Glazes are available in 4 oz and 16 oz bottles.  Dogwood Ceramic Supply stocks all available sizes and colors.

Courtyard™ Art Glazes

These unique, self-antiquing, lead-free matte glazes result in rich varied color.  The contrasting color produced during firing provides exotic finishes on flat and textured clay surfaces.

Basic Instructions
1. For both Low Fire and High Fire Applications, apply 2-5 coats to cone 04 bisque. Let dry between coats.
2. For Low Fire, stilt and fire to cone 06. for High Fire, stilt and fire to cone 5-6.
3. Cleans up with water.
4. Courtyard Art Glazes are not overglaze compatible.

Tips & Techniques
1. For High Fire, because high fire clays vary, we recommend firing a test piece.
2. When spritzing with Courtyard Art Glazes, use the stream setting for thin lines of color, spots or drip effects. To create these effects, mix 1/2 Concepts TM color and 1/2 water.
3. Courtyard Art Glazes can be applied with a sponge, spritz bottle or brush.
4. When spritzing on Courtyard Art Glazes, use the spray or mist setting for base coat coverage. For full coverage, spritz on 3-4 coats depending on the color of glaze; lighter colors require more coats.

Health & Safety
1. Nontoxic and lead-free.
