Duncan Crackles Glazes


    Duncan Crackle Glazes, properly known as Duncan Crackles Glazes, are gloss glazes that develop fine spider-web cracks in the glaze surface. The Duncan Crackle Glazes are nontoxic, however, due to the fine spider-web cracks in the glaze surface these glazes can never be used for dinnerware items as the fine spider-web like cracks can harbor food particles and bacteria.

     Decoratively the cracks in the surface of the Duncan Crackle Glazes can be emphasized with the addition of a colored, opaque acrylic stain, translucent acrylic stain or even India ink. Duncan Crackle Glazes are available in Clear Crackle and 3 additional colors, all glazes are translucent and may be used over underglazed details, such as Duncan Concepts or EZ Strokes.

    All Duncan Crackle Glazes are available in both 4 oz and 16 oz bottles. Dogwood Ceramic Supply stocks all available sizes and colors.

     Do not combine Crackle Glazes (any brand including Duncan's) with gloss or colored glazes (any brand including Duncan's) such that the Crackle Glaze is on one surface and the other glaze is on the opposing surface .... such as the interior and exterior of a bowl or vase.  The two glazes are physically incompatible and may cause significant stress to the ware (object) during firing or usage.
