Many customers often desire to choose their pottery wheel in person. When you come to Dogwood Ceramic Supply bring your truck, van or SUV as the 27 x 29 x 16h packing box for the Shimpo VL Whisper pottery wheel will not fit in the trunk of many small cars. The VL Whisper can not be shipped via UPS.

Please Note: The VL Whisper is a large, heavy and complex pottery wheel. UPS and every other small package carrier has size (volume) and weight limits on the packages that they handle. The VL Whisper packaging is nearly the maximum size allowed by the small package carriers and seemingly has sufficient packaging to prevent damages during shipping, yet the VL Whisper has a very high rate of damages to either the wheel head or undercarriage when the VL Whisper is shipped via small package carriers. This type of damage does not occur with freight shipments or over the counter sales. The manufacturer has been working with UPS and other carriers to modify the packaging to achieve certified (safe or approved) shipping status. However, the required changes would cause the packaging to be larger than the allowable package limits. As such, the manufacturer does not recommend the VL Whisper to be shipped via UPS or any other small package carrier.

One of the most important aspects of this issue is that small package carriers will deny ALL damage claims (including visible on delivery and lost during shipping claims) on the VL Whisper as the product has been documented to be easily damaged during small package shipments.

Dogwood Ceramic Supply will follow the manufacturer's recommendations and refuses to ship the VL Whisper via UPS or any other small package carrier.

Be advised that many online or mail-order firms ignore the manufacturer's recommendations and continue to ship the VL Whisper via UPS, FedEx, DHL etc. Over the past few months some of these firms have drastically lowered their prices on the VL Whisper in an attempt to clear out their inventory before the public is fully aware of the risks. Dogwood Ceramic Supply will not engage in such deceptive business practices.
