Spectrum 1100 Series Stoneware Glazes Cone 4-6 High Fire Glazes The Spectrum 1100 Series Cone 4-6 High Fire
Stoneware Glazes are packaged in gallons and wide mouth pints for brushing application. Most 1100 Series Glazes are nontoxic in the liquid form and nearly every glaze in the line is food-safe when properly fired in oxidation (electric kilns). The 1100 Series is perfect for use with Stoneware and Porcelain clays as well as high fire terra cotta clays. The majority of the 1100 Glaze Series are considered Reactive Glazes, which means the glazes will move and flow due in the firing. General & Safety Information: Dogwood Ceramic Supply actively stocks the entire line of Spectrum 1100 Series High Fire Glazes in pint sizes in our Gulfport Mississippi showroom and warehouse. The most popular 25-30 colors of Spectrum 1100 Series Glazes are stocked in gallons sizes in bulk quantities to meet the needs of our established production customers. The less popular colors of Spectrum 1100 Series Glazes are stocked in limited quantities of gallons. The 1100 Series High Fire Glazes are premixed (liquid glaze) designed specifically for brush application. Most 1100 Series Glazes are nontoxic in the liquid form and nearly every glaze in the line is food-safe when properly fired in oxidation (electric kilns) with a continuous vitrified surface after being fired. Refer to the health codes listed with the digital picture of the glaze and the explanations listed above for determining the suitability of a specific glaze to meet your needs. Product Information: Many Spectrum 1100 Series Glazes are classified as Reactive Glazes. Reactive Glazes, often referred to as "Art Glazes" and generally have the word "texture" in the name, are formulated to react during the firing to produce very interesting and beautiful effects. Reactive glazes react to clay composition, whether fired on a vertical or horizontal surface, firing temperature and hold time, contact with other glazes, as well as application thickness. In general, reactive glazes will readily flow (move) during the firing, especially so at higher temperatures. These glazes are considered dinnerware safe as long as there is a continuous vitrified surface when properly fired in oxidation (electric kiln). As Reactive Glazes tend to run in the firing, care should be taken with glaze being applied to a vertical surface. To keep the glaze from flowing off the ware, it is suggested that fewer coats of glaze should be applied on the lower surfaces of the vertical sides, or even leave a generous area unglazed. |
