Spectrum 900 Series LOW STONE Glazes Cone 06-04 Low Fire The Spectrum Low Stone Glaze series consists of 62 reactive glazes including earthy matte glazes, bright glossy glazes, vivid colored glazes, speckled glazes as well as metallic colored glazes. The commonality between all 62 glazes is their reactivity to their thickness of application, the shape and details of the ware as well as the firing temperature and soak. The complete line of Low Stone Glazes are lead-free and food-safe when properly fired in oxidation (electric kilns), and most are nontoxic for safe use in the classroom. Additional product and technical information is at the bottom of this page. Spectrum Low Stone 900 Series are packaged in gallons and wide mouth pints and may ordered in 10 lb dry quantities for dipping. The Spectrum Low Stone Glazes are formulated for Cone 06-04 firing, but for best results should be fired to 05 or 04.

General & Safety Information: Dogwood Ceramic Supply actively stocks the entire line of Spectrum 900 Series Low Stone Glazes in pint sizes at our Gulfport Mississippi showroom and warehouse. Gallons are available with an advanced order. Volume discounts are available for purchases of pints or gallons of 900 Series Low Stone Glazes. Product Information: The entire SPECTRUM Low Stone Glazes (900 Series) are classified as Reactive Glazes. Reactive Glazes, often referred to as "Art Glazes", are formulated to react during the firing to produce very interesting and beautiful effects. Reactive glazes react to clay composition, whether fired on a vertical or horizontal surface, firing temperature and hold time, contact with other glazes, as well as application thickness and details in the surface of the ware. In general, reactive glazes will readily flow (move) during the firing, with the matte glazes generally moving the least amount and glossy glazes moving the greatest amount. These glazes are considered dinnerware safe as long as they are properly applied and there is a continuous vitrified surface after firing. The SPECTRUM Low Stone Glazes have a fairly broad firing range (cone 04-06). However, experience has shown that the glazes have a greater range of reaction, and a smoother surface if fired to Cone 05 or hotter to Cone 04. Due to significantly different expansion rates, the combination of Spectrum 900 Series Low Stone Glazes with Spectrum 700 Series Glazes, or gloss glazes from other companies can result structural failure of the finished item. If a glaze is needed to finish the interior of an item, use Spectrum 900 Clear Glaze. The 900 Clear is formulated specifically for use with the Low Stone Glazes . As Reactive Glazes tend to run in the firing, care should be taken with glaze being applied to a vertical surface. To keep the glaze from flowing off the ware, it is suggested that fewer coats of glaze should be applied on the lower surfaces of the vertical sides, or even leave a generous area unglazed. |
