Standard Ceramic Supply, aka Standard Ceramics, is a division of Chem-Clay, a Carnegie Pennsylvania company established in 1960 to supply clays and related supplies to the school and professional ceramic markets through their Pittsburgh (Carnegie) area manufacturing plant as well as clay distributors primarily located in the Eastern United States and a limited number of export markets.
Dogwood Ceramic Supply is the only Standard Ceramic Supply distributor located in Louisiana, Mississippi or Alabama and is also the Standard Ceramic Supply distributor located closest to customers in the Western United States who desire Standard's Clays. Please be advised that Dogwood Ceramic Supply is approximately 1750 miles from Los Angeles and 2200 miles from Seattle. For shipping costs, whether via UPS or Motor Freight, the weight of the product and the distance traveled are the primary factors in determining cost. As the distance traveled is significant so are the shipping costs. For comparison purposes, Dogwood Ceramic Supply has provided an abbreviated West Coast freight table of typical bulk shipping quantities to readily identifiable geographic points.
Always remember, Landed Cost (the cost of the product plus shipping costs) should always be considered when shipping clay. That said, Dogwood Ceramic Supply currently provides Standard Clays to a number of customers on the West Coast. The shipping costs are significant but then buying a superior clay sometimes makes the cost a non-factor.
