Standard's English Porcelain Slips
Standard Ceramic Supply's English Porcelain Slip, available in classic White English Porcelain and French Blush, are perfect for casting porcelain dolls, figurines, sculptures and other items needing to be cast in vitreous porcelain slip.
Standard Ceramic Supply's White English Porcelain Slip (simply known as Standard's English Porcelain Slip) is a fine grained parian like porcelain that is white, tight and luminous when cast thin. Shrinkage at Cone 6 is 15.5% with 0.5% absorption. The color of Standard's White English Porcelain Slip is significantly cleaner, closer to perfect white than other white porcelain slips which means the product is better for casting ornaments and figurines, but that same time the color is no so harsh that is can't be used as a substitute for Seeley's Lady White for casting porcelain dolls.
The low level of absorption and reliable shrinkage rate means Standard's English Porcelain Slip is ideal for industrial applications, such as manufacturing porcelain insulators and washers.
The French Blush Porcelain Slip by Standard Ceramic Supply is a traditional warm healthy Caucasian skin tone for porcelain dolls of young children. Standard's French Blush is a near perfect match to Seeley's French Bisque porcelain slip with many people unable to distinguish between finished samples of both porcelain slips laid side by side. Others say Standard's French Blush Porcelain Slip has a slight pink cast versus Seeley's French Bisque. Either way, Standard's French Bisque should be ideal for many doll techniques. As with the Standard's White English Porcelain Slip, the shrinkage of Standard's French Bisque is 15.5% at Cone 6 with 0.5% absorption. Because the slips are nearly identical in technical performance it should be possible to mix the White English Porcelain Slip with the French Blush Porcelain Slip for advanced doll techniques.

Standard's Porcelain Slip ships via Freight Class 55 which may be 10% higher in charges than Freight Class 50 shown on the rate tables.

mold straps which are often needed for casting and finishing porcelain dolls.
On August 20, 2008 Dogwood Ceramic Supply formally announced that we would cease carrying Seeley's products.
Why?
The simplest explanation is Seeley's was unable to deliver product in a time manner demanded by Dogwood Ceramic Supply's customers. Fundamentally the statement is correct. What the statement does not address is the level of discord generated in the ceramic/pottery community which was created by Seeley's slow delivery times of weeks or even months for a product that was traditionally stocked Seeley for next day shipping during the past 20+ years. Over a period of years this situation became unbearable for Dogwood Ceramic Supply, especially as a group of low volume customers became openly vocal in blaming the Seeley Distributors rather than the Seeley factory for these extended delivery times.
Dogwood Ceramic Supply quickly eliminated all Seeley's products from our showroom. We do not have any Seeley's Porcelain Slip or other products in stock. NONE.
