S153 Stoneware Clay

S153 Stoneware Clay (Cone 4-10)
    Standard Clay's S-153 Stoneware Clay is a moderately textured clay that responds well to all techniques.  Standard S-153 Stoneware Clay is an excellent clay for the production potter as well as the classroom.  Contains 9% fine grog.  As shown on the left, the clay is a soft warm beige in oxidation at Cone 6.  The clay sample in the middle shows the clay as it deepens to a warm light gray at Cone 10.  In reduction, shown on the right, the clay is a rich gray brown at Cone 10, with noticeable speckling.  Standard S-153 is similar to S-306 Warm Brown Stoneware Clay, except the colors are lighter and there is a bit more grog added to the clay to allow for greater wet strength when throwing.
