    Standard Clay's S-239 Raku Clay is an open, high porosity clay body specially formulated to withstand the thermal shock of Raku firing.  7% sand yields very versatile clay with a coarse texture that may be used for a variety of techniques, and is perfect for potters that desire toothy clay with a broad firing range for throwing and other techniques.  Standard S-239 is popular with recreation programs that what to stock a single clay to met all of the program's projects and classes.  At Cone 04, shown on the left, the clay is a very warm white with a hint of pink.  At Cone 6, shown on the right, the color is a warm sandy white.
