Air Dried Clay

S910 Self Harding Clay (do not fire)

Standard Clay's S-910 Self-Hardening Clay, also known as 910 Air Dried Clay from Standard Clay, is perfect for non-fired clay techniques and is the ideal clay for the classroom or recreation program that does not have access to a kiln.  Self Hardening Clay dries upon exposure to air and will harden without firing.  The clay is not watertight and may only be decorated with acrylics or other non-fired color products.  The standard color is white and may also be advanced ordered in grey and red color.

Suggested uses for Air Dried Clay:

Retirement homes, hospitals and rehabilitation centers working with the elder and stroke patients to gain hand strength.  Air Dried Clay can be formed and reformed and saved in an airtight container for additional work.

Kindergartens, Elementary and Middle Schools for earth day projects.  Standard Clay's Air Dried Clay allows a large number of students to perform a clay project without the need to kiln fire all of those pieces.  Remember the clay will harden when exposed to air and can be painted with acrylics.

Science Fair projects.  Yes, those classic volcanoes can be made out of Air Dried Clay.

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts projects.  Air Dried Clay will generally not meet the requirements of pottery or ceramic merit badges as the clay can not be kiln fired or decorated with glazes.  At the same time, Air Dried Clay is perfect for Brownies and Cub Scout projects.

Please note, Standard Ceramic Supply, the manufacturer of Standard Clay, suggests the shelf life of this product to be limited to 6 months due to the risk of air exposure.  However, Gulfport Bayou View Middle School and Central Middle School hold over the excess S-910 Air Dried Clay from their annual Earth Day event to the next school year's event with little problem.
