Standard White Stoneware Slip

    Standard Ceramic Supply's White Stoneware Slip is a beautiful soft warm white color that is attractive if left unglazed and performs flawlessly in casting, firing and decorating. The finished ware is very sturdy and chip resistant that is perfect for both decorative and utilitarian ware. Standard's White Stoneware Slip is very fine grained and takes underglazes and glazes exceptionally well. Technically the shrinkage of Standard's White Stoneware Slip is about 11% and the slip is nearly vitreous at Cone 6 with 3.3% absorption and may be fired hotter with some limitations. The soft warm white color of Standard's White Stoneware Slip is an ideal companion for Standard's S-240 White Stoneware Moist Clays.

   Casting time for Standard's White Stoneware Slip is typically 20 to 30 minutes, depending upon the size and design of the mold and the desired thickness. For most stoneware designs a thickness of 4 to 6mm (¼ inch) would be ideal. The Duncan 80a mold used for Dogwood's showroom and web samples took just over 15 minutes to produce a nice thickness casting. Cleaning/preparation of cast items can be either by traditional greenware method, or the ware may be soft fired to Cone 020 and then cleaned. Spectrum 1100 series Stoneware Glazes were used to decorate the blue sample.

    Standard's White Stoneware Slip is a very versatile clay product that has a virtually unlimited number of possible decorating techniques. Items cast in Standard's White Stoneware Slip can be decorated much in the same manner as any high fire clay body with application of underglazes on greenware or bisque as well high fire glazes.

     Standard's White Stoneware Slip is pre-mixed, ready for casting and is packaged in 2 gallon boxes with a sealed plastic bag within the box.  The price per gallon is shown for customer comparative purposes.

Bulk Shipments of Standard's White Stoneware Slip

   Stoneware Slip customers should always purchase slip locally if at possible so as to avoid freight and handling costs. When purchasing stoneware slip locally is not possible, Dogwood Ceramic Supply will ship Standard's White Stoneware Slip via YRC Freight (Yellow & Roadway Corp).

    Please refer to Motor Freight Shipping for additional information including shipping rates to other common shipping points across the Southern USA. Standard's White Stoneware Slip ships via Freight Class 55 which may be 10% higher in charges than Freight Class 50 shown on the rate tables.

    The minimum quantity of Standard's White Stoneware Slip for freight shipment is 10 boxes (20 gallons), however increments of 20 boxes (40 gallons) is the preferred quantity to minimize problems with palletizing the product and reduce shipping damage.

   A full pallet of Standard's White Stoneware Slip is 80 boxes (160 gallons) and weighs 2530 pounds including the weight of the pallet. To minimize handling cost any purchase of 80 or more boxes of Standard's White Stoneware Slip must be in increments of 80 boxes.
