Ceramic Mold Straps

   Long lasting, heavy duty Ceramic Mold Straps (also known as mold belts, ceramic mold straps or plaster mold straps) have a color coded polyester webbing and easily assembled, quick release, rust resistant metal buckle.  The general design of the heavy duty Ceramic Mold Strap is quite universal and is found across many industries when a self cinching strap or belt is needed to bind heavy objects.  For the mold casting industry, the heavy duty Ceramic Mold Straps are used for most moderate sized and larger ceramic molds (above 20 lbs in weight or holding more than 1 quart of slip) as the heavy duty Mold Straps have greater binding capabilities than rubber bands.  In fact, often only 1 or 2 ceramic mold straps will be required to properly bind the largest molds whereas dozens of rubber bands would be required and may still leak.  Dogwood Ceramic Supply uses the Ceramic Mold Straps on better than 95% of the molds we cast because the better binding capabilities means fewer leaking molds, better quality greenware and higher production rates.  An added benefit is the non-rotting vinyl webbing and brass buckle are durable enough such that mold straps we (Dogwood Ceramic Supply) purchased well over 20 years ago are still in use today.

   Mold Straps are sold in packages of 10 straps of one size per package. Open stock quantities of the Mold Straps are available only for in-store customers.

Length includes buckle.

4' and 5' are the sizes needed for the typical ceramic mold.

Threading Instructions:

   The buckle operation of the heavy duty Mold Strap is a universal design commonly referred to as a military belt in that the Mold Strap operates just like many industrial and military cinching straps.  The gray side of the strap in the diagram is the side that is against mold. Follow diagram & snap buckle in place.

   Compared to the metal buckle, mold plaster is rather soft.  Always insert a small sheet of corrugated cardboard under the metal buckle to protect the mold from damage.
