Paragon PAF and PAT Glass Annealing Kilns
Annealing a large piece of glass requires a large kiln and that is the primary purpose of the Paragon PAF and PAT Glass Annealing Kilns. Actually annealing glass is the only purpose of these kilns as they were designed to perform that singular function and are rated to 1100°F (593°C) rather than a higher temperature rating common to the typical multi-purpose glass kiln. The lower temperature rating results a cost effective and electrically efficient kiln design than a kiln that is trying to be everything to everybody.
The PAT kilns are professional annealing top loading kilns (professional annealing top = PAT) that are available in three sizes, the PAT 10, PAT 20 and PAT 30. Choose the size that fits your needs best and anneal all the glass you will ever want.
The PAF kilns are professional annealing front loading kilns (professional annealing front = PAF) that are available in three sizes, the PAF 10, PAF 20 and PAF 30. The PAF series of kilns have a significant advantage over the PAT series of kilns in that identical PAF kilns are stackable to increase the annealing capacity of the serious production glass studio without increasing the amount of floor space required for that additional capacity.

Common features between the PAF and PAT kiln include:
◊ Levelers built into the feet of the kiln.
◊ A lid switch shut off or door switch shut off to cut power to the elements during loading because metal tongs and high amperage elements are not a good mix. When the door switch shut off is engage the digital controller unit remains powered and automatically resumes the firing program when the lid or door is closed.
◊ A high temperature fiber rope seal lines the inner surface of the kiln where either the lid or doors contact the chamber. The lid or door units are grooved to accept the rope seal for a tight thermo fit to prevent drafts of cold air around the doors or lid. The PAF kilns also add a rope seal between the junction of the two swing doors.
◊ The simple to use 3 Key Sentry Digital Controller is standard.
◊ Floor to ceiling heating elements on 4 walls in the PAT kilns, 3 walls in the PAF kilns
◊ Built in trusses allow the roof or lid to expand without stress
◊ MDR (Mercury Displacement Relays) are standard on all kilns in the series.
◊ 2" heavy tubular steel frame can handle just about any weight load. The same steel frame system was used in the Dogwood Ceramic Supply designed custom metal annealing kiln capable of handling 1800 lb loads.
◊ Heat shield and air gab between the kiln and the ventilated switch box to increase the reliability of critical components.
◊ K-Type Thermocouple standard. No benefit to upgrade to the S-Type as the K-Type is projected for decades of service when used at glass annealing temperatures.
Paragon PAT Glass Annealing Kilns
The Paragon PAT Kilns also include a massive amount of insulation:

| 3” thick firebrick bottom |
And the heavy hinged lid on the PAT kilns includes Paragon's patented and self contained Litelid Lid Assist, which reduces the wear and tear forces on the lid during opening and closing and also allows a single person to lift a lid that could weigh several hundreds of pounds without needing cumbersome pulleys and counter weights. Because of the weight of the lid, the PAT-30 uses three LiteLid units where as the other top loading kilns only require two units. Large 16" front handle and additional side handles allow better access for opening/closing of the lid.

The doors on the PAF series of kilns are mounted on ¾" hinged shafts are closed by spring-loaded quick-release door latches that allow 1 handed operation (opening and closing) of the heavy doors. This heavy duty hinge assembly door latch was first used on the Paragon Dragon pottery kiln and has been proven quite reliable in 10+ years of use by Dogwood Ceramic Supply.
