Optional Kiln Stands and Tables for Paragon Kilns
![]() |
Every conventional top loading Paragon Kiln comes with a stand (similar to the one shown to left) as standard equipment with the kiln. The stand is necessary to suspend the kiln off the ground for safe operation. Some customers may desire to frequently move their kiln and may select the optional Deluxe Kiln Stand that is equipped with casters. The Deluxe Kiln Stand is available in a choice of heights and two widths to accommodate different sized kilns. The Deluxe Kiln Stand is not compatible with the Orton KilnVent. |

Front Loading Kilns always have a stand built into the kiln (the louvered section or skirting around the bottom of the kiln) so the kiln can be placed directly on a heat resistant work table. For moderate sized front loading or clam shell glass kilns such as the Paragon GL 24 ADTSD or the Paragon Pearl 22, the ST-8 Kiln Table is an option. The ST-8 Kiln Table is available in two versions, one with casters and one without. The ST-8 Kiln Table measures 30" x 30" and is 28¼" high while the ST-8-1 Kiln Table with casters measures 30¾" high. The Paragon ST-8 Kiln Table without casters may be shipped unassembled for reduced shipping costs. The Paragon ST-8 Kiln Stand with Casters is only shipped fully assembled. The shipping weight of both kiln stands is approximately 150 lbs and must be shipped via Motor Freight with the unit with the casters shipped at a more expensive shipping rate. |
| Dogwood Ceramic Supply has a ST-8-1 in
our showroom. It really can support 300+ lb kiln. The ST-8 is offered by Paragon for customers whom are unable to find a work table or bench capable of holding a kiln that could weigh 300 lbs or more. Heavy duty work tables are usually available in the customer's local market for less money than the cost of the Paragon ST-8 and may be large enough to allow the kiln user the extra space necessary for prepping their glass projects. While metal is preferred for a work table, the work table can be made of wood as the louvered base of the front loading and clamshell kilns will keep the heated brick bottom of the kiln from contacting the table top. Most kiln users find a work table with extra space for project prep work to be a better value than purchasing the ST-8. However, casters are seldom if ever found on work tables and Paragon is the only source of a small table suitable for holding a heavy kiln in a narrow space..... so sometimes the more expensive option is the best option. |
| Many studio in spaces converted from other uses (such as a garage) will have
have an issue with sloping floors as the concrete was cast with a slight
gradient to allow for proper drainage. Leveling a kiln in these situations
can be a requirement for serious glass artists as an even a slight tilt to the kiln
can cause wares to slide or tilt during firing. Obviously the easiest way to adjust for
such issues to slide a wedge under one or more of the stand legs. That
said, stands with casters are just about impossible to level in such a manner. Dogwood Ceramic Supply recommends purchasing the unit with casters ONLY when the need to move the unit outweigh all other issues. |

Large front loading kilns, such as the Paragon Iguana shown to the left or the ever popular Dragon, may be placed directly on a work table capable of holding the heavy kiln or will need to be mounted to a customized stand (which can be purchased at the same time as the kiln) to raise the kiln to the customer's desired working height. The stand for the Super Dragon is built into the kiln. |

The original design of the Pearl 44 used a heavy duty frame with legs.....a basic kiln stand on steroids. Over the past two years, Dogwood Ceramic Supply has added the leveling feet and casters from the Pearl 56 as an option to the Pearl 44. The best of both words.... casters and built-in leveling feet. |

| Stands with casters may present a serious safety issue if the kiln is NOT
unplugged prior to any movement. The many large kilns that are direct wired have an even greater risk created when the failing to
disconnect the kiln from the electrical service. Dogwood Ceramic Supply recommends purchasing the unit with casters ONLY when the need to move the unit outweigh all other issues..... and always remember to disconnect the kiln from the electrical service prior to any movement. |
Please visit Paragon Kiln Parts for optional kiln stands and tables purchased without the matching kiln. Discounts on the optional kiln stands and tables when purchased with the matching kiln may not apply to stand alone purchases.
